Snowshoe overview
Originated in Pennsylvania, USA in early 1960s from American Shorthair and Siamese breeds. Three kittens of Siamese parentage that were born with white feet formed the foundation of the breed and American Bi-coloured Shorthairs were used to develop the breed.
Intelligent, people-oriented, very affectionate and moderately docile. Active without being high-strung. Requires grooming once a week.

Intermediate body, between a Siamese and American Shorthair.

Short haired.
Smooth, glossy coat with resilient texture.

Patterns
Colour-pointed, mitted. Preferred pattern bicolour and harlequin.
The Snowshoe pattern is complex, with the white markings superimposed on the Siamese pointing. The preferred pattern being white to the ankles in front, white to the hocks at the back and an inverted 'V on the face.
