Dogue de Bordeaux overview
The breeds name stems from its area of origin in the Bordeaux region of France. In the early 19th Century, the Dogue de Bordeaux was often referred to as a Douge or Matin (occasionally known as the French Mastiff). It is a large dog, best suited to life in the country. Needs little grooming. Was fairly well known in the UK in the 19th Century but took more than 100 years to be officially recognized by the Kennel Club.
