Pekingese overview
An ancient breed from China with strong associations with the Buddhist religion. At one time only Chinese royalty were allowed to own a Pekingese.
The Pekingese can be independent and stubborn. Short bowed legs and a very slow walking speed result in a diminished requirement for exercise. Profuse course coat and heavy mane will require diligent gooming. Do not be surprised by this breed's dignity and spirit; it has both in abundance.
